NEWCASTLE United forward Siem de Jong has endured a fresh blow after suffering a thigh injury.
The Dutchman, who has missed the majority of the season with a thigh injury, and then a collapsed lung, has had a scan on his thigh.
However, Papiss Demba Cisse could return from a seven-match ban in Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion after recovering from a knee injury.
Rolando Aarons could also play a part after he played for the first time in over six months on Tuesday for the club’s Under-21s.
Another doubt for the West Brom game, Paul Dummett, could yet miss out, subject to scan results on his hamstring.
Newcastle head coach John Carver said: “We are waiting to find out on Paul Dummett, who will do some work this afternoon. We are waiting for the results of a scan.
“Papiss trained with us for the first time today and it’s great to have him back with us. It gives everyone a lift
“It’s been a tough period but I have a spring in my step and am ready to go for the next three games.
“West Brom are very well organised and a threat at set-plays. But we need to win the game and have to find a way to do that.”
