Freddie Woodman has committed his long-term future to Newcastle United.

The goalkeeper – who had been interesting Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur – has signed a new four-year deal at St James's Park.

"I'm delighted," he said. "I've been at this club for five years, and I consider this place home now.

"It's a great moment for me and my family to continue the journey with Newcastle and sign for four more years."

Woodman, an England Under-19 international, had a spell on loan at Crawley Town last season.

But Woodman's time at the club was cut short by an injury to Tim Krul, which led to him being recalled by United.

And the 19-year-old, son of former Newcastle goalkeeping coach Andy, will be loaned out by United manager Rafa Benitez this season for more first-team experience.
