HARRY Redknapp has backed Newcastle United to beat the drop – but says the relegation battle could go down to the wire.
The Magpies are two points above the drop zone, with Hull City occupying the last remaining relegation position after Queens Park Rangers and Brnley fell through the Premier League trapdoor at the weekend.
I’m sure Sam would like to go back (to St James’s Park) and get a result, having been there, but I still have to favour Newcastle.Harry Redknapp
Newcastle have two games left, at QPR next weekend followed by a home clash against West Ham United – managed by former Toon boss Sam Allardyce – on the last day of the season.
Hull, meanwhile, travel to Tottenham Hotspur before hosting Manchester United in their final fixture.
And ex-QPR and Spurs boss Redknapp, talking to Talksport, says the fixture list favours John Carver’s side.
“Can they (Hull) win a game out of those two games? They couldn’t beat Burnley at the weekend,” he said.
“I’m sure Sam would like to go back (to St James’s Park) and get a result, having been there, but I still have to favour Newcastle.
“Hull might pick up a point at Tottenhm and they have got a record of beating the big clubs at Hull so it’s not impossible.
“It (the Manchester United fixture) is the last game of the season, it’s a massive game and it’s not impossible for them to pull it off and it’s going to be an exciting last day for sure.”
