Hatem Ben Arfa ‘considering retirement’ after ex-Newcastle man sees Nice move collapse

FORMER Newcastle United forward Hatem Ben Arfa is considering retiring from football, according to his lawyer.

Ben Arfa has seen his move to French side Nice collapse due to FIFA rules on the number of clubs footballers can play for in one season.

‘Extraordinary’ Hatem Ben Arfa deserves a second chance, says Newcastle star

The 27-year-old played for Hull City in a loan spell earlier this season, while a game he played earlier in the campaign for Newcastle’s Under-21 side has been deemed an official appearance.

Because of that, Ben Arfa – whose contract at Newcastle was cancelled at the start of January – will be unable to play competitive football until next season, and he is said to be considering his future in the sport.

His lawyer, Jean-Jacques Bertrand, told Infosport+: “He has in the head tonight to stop (playing) football.”

Foot Mercato, meanwhile, claim Ben Arfa will announce tomorrow that his ‘adventure’ with Nice is over.
