Northampton Town striker Ivan Toney is close to completing a move to Newcastle United.
Toney yesterday trained at United to give head coach Steve McClaren and his staff a chance to get a closer look at the 19-year-old.
And the two clubs are understood to be close to agreeing a fee – thought to be upwards of £300,000 plus add-ons – for the transfer of Toney.
Toney has been regularly watched by United chief scout Graham Carr.
Meanwhile, the kick-off of Newcastle’s game against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on October 25 was been brought forward to noon so it can be shown live by Sky Sports.
And the home game against Norwich City will be played on Ocotber 18 with a 4pm kick-off, also for broadcast by Sky.
And United’s away game against Bournemouth on November 7 will kick off at 12.45pm so it can be screened by BT Sport.
