JOHN Carver has joked that Newcastle United’s injuries have left the club’s training ground looking like an emergency ward.
Newcastle’s squad has been hit badly by injuries in recent weeks.
The likes of Siem de Jong, Cheik Tiote, Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara, Rolando Aarons and Steven Taylor are on the treatment table ahead of Sunday’s trip to Everton.
Carver insists Newcastle are not down to the ‘bare bones’, but admits he has ‘never seen so many players on crutches’.
He said: “I don’t like sitting here making excuses, but it’s like emergency ward 10 at the training ground at the moment. I’ve never seen so many players on crutches.
“Cheik Tiote came in this morning for the first time since his surgery and all I could hear was the crutches coming down the corridor.
“We’ve got a tough run of games and we’ve just got to deal with it. We’re not down to the bare bones but we’re down to a small number of players, as we were against Man U and we stood up to them.”
