Joe Willock latest as £20m plus player swap deal rumours emerge and Kristoffer Ajer talks transfers
There’s plenty of speculation swirling around regarding Newcastle United as the transfer window hots up.
Here, we take a look at the latest Magpies-related news that you may have missed in our daily round-up:
Arsenal and Newcastle United consider swap deal
A potential player-plus-cash deal involving Freddie Woodman and Joe Willock could be a possibility, according to the latest reports.
Magpies’ boss Steve Bruce is said to be considering all options but is extremely keen to bring Willock back to Tyneside.
One option could be a player-plus-cash swap deal for Freddie Woodman with Arsenal are looking for a homegrown goalkeeper.
Woodman’s future at St James’ Park is uncertain with Karl Darlow and Martin Dubravka ahead of him in the pecking order.
The stopper experienced a positive loan to Swansea City last season with the Swans reaching the play-off final.
Arsenal are reportedly demanding £30m for Willock, however, with Newcastle valuing Woodman at £10m.
That means a swap deal involving some cash going Arsenal’s way could suit all involved.
What has Celtic star Kristoffer Ajer said about his future?
The defender has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer.
However, it is also claimed that RB Leipzig have joined the race to sign the 23-year-old.
Indeed, German side Bayer Levekusen are also interested in the 6ft 5′ centre-back.
The Norwegian is entering the final 12 months of his current contract.
He said: “With one year left of my contract, that would be the best solution for me and my club. Something is going to happen this summer.
“There are of course many rumours. Right now it’s just rumours.
“I have one year left on my contract with Celtic and I relate to it, but something will probably happen this summer.
“I have one year left and will be loyal to the club.
“For both me and Celtic to get the best possible starting point, it probably makes sense that it happens this year.
“I have brought with me experience from almost 180 games for a top club like Celtic.”
