John Carver has applied for the vacant managerial post at Aston Villa.
Carver has been out of work since leaving Newcastle United last summer.
And the experienced coach is keen on Remi Garde's old position at Villa Park.
Garde was sacked this week by Villa after a failing to turn around the club's fortunes.
Carver revealed on BBC Radio 5 Live he had applied for the job at the Premier League's basement club, which is set to be relegated to the Championship.
“I have (applied) yes, via my agent,” said Carver. “I haven’t heard anything yet, though.
“I think whatever they do, they have to do it reasonably quickly to get a steal on everybody else.”
