TWO fans accused of verbally abusing John Carver will meet Newcastle United’s head coach ahead of the club’s game against Leicester City
Carver was involved a heated exchange with the pair during last weekend’s 3-2 home defeat to Swansea City.
After the match, he said: “I said to the two lads who were abusing me ‘come and see me afterwards, and I’ll explain to you what I am trying to do’.”
Carver – whose 14th-placed side are battling to stay in the Premier League after a run of seven successive defeats – also called on the club to give him more “protection” from abuse in the dugout.
Supporter Allen O’Connell has since revealed on Twitter that a meeting with Carver at Newcastle’s training ground has been set up for Friday.
O’Connell and another fan will also meet the club’s players.
He tweeted: “I’ve been invited to the training ground on Friday to meet Carver and the players and watch a bit of training and sit down and talk to Carver, which is a massive thing to me even with everything going on at the club.
“So me and @Thomas91C will be going along on Friday, which we are thankful for getting the chance to speak to staff and players and get the point across that me and @Thomas91C and all you are making and hopefully find out what Carver is trying to do.”
Newcastle take on Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
