JONAS Gutierrez has hinted the club’s board could stop him playing for Newcastle United again.
Gutierrez has played a number of games for the Magpies’ second string since getting the all clear after treatment for cancer.
However he has yet to play for the first team, with the Gazette understanding that if he makes eight more appearances then he automatically gets a new contract.
The Argentinian is out of contract in the summer, and United don’t want to keep the midfielder.
But after a move to Velez Sarsfield fell through last week he is back on Tyneside and keen to play under John Carver - if he’s allowed.
Gutierrez tweeted: “Healthy and ready, now is a board decision.”
Gutierrez told the Gazette last month that it would be one of his greatest achievements in football if he could play for Newcastle again.
