Karl Darlow will make his Newcastle United comeback today – and give Steve McClaren an extra goalkeeping option.
The goalkeeper, sidelined since August with an ankle problem, is set to play in an Under-21 Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion this afternoon (1pm kick-off).
Head coach McClaren, without No 1 Tim Krul, has fielded Rob Elliot in goal in recent weeks.
Teenager Freddie Woodman has been on the bench.
And Darlow's return will bring some more competition to the goalkeeping department.
Defender Kevin Mbabu is also likely to feature at Whitley Park.
