Newcastle United are set to sign Kenedy on loan.
The winger – who spent the second half of last season on loan at St James’s Park – has travelled to Tyneside for a medical following talks with Chelsea.
Kenedy, pictured on a Newcastle-bound train tonight with Sky Sports presenter and United fan Pete Graves, was an influential figure as the club moved up the Premier League table in the latter months of the campaign.
The 22-year-old made 13 appearances, and scored two goals, before returning to Chelsea at the end of the campaign.
United manager Rafa Benitez went public with his keenness to re-sign Kenedy, either on another loan or a permanent deal.
Newcastle and Chelsea have been talking since the end of last season, and a loan fee is being finalised.
Kenedy could travel to Ireland on Wednesday for the club’s training camp if a deal is completed over the next 24 hours.
United are also keen to re-sign Andros Townsend from Crystal Palace.
