Wins at Crystal Palace then over West Brom have seen Steve Bruce’s Magpies put a more than respectable 17 points on the board from their opening 11 games of the Premier League season.
Tonight they face Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites, who have impressed on their return to the top flight but still sit two places and three points behind the Magpies heading into the Elland Road clash.
After the COVID-19 crisis seems to have been brought under control and selections fears have been allayed somewhat, who will Bruce call upon this evening to get the job done in Yorkshire?
Our NUFC writer Liam Kennedy takes a look at the options and picks the side he would send out against Leeds...
1. Newcastle United's players celebrate

2. Goalkeeper - Karl Darlow
The United keeper has been a revelation this season, stepping in to cover for injured Martin Dubravka. His performances have been at a level so high many are now questioning whether the Slovak walks back into the side on his return. That thought would have been unthinkable six months ago. 3. Right back - DeAndre Yedlin
With Javier Manquillo's availability in question United have little other option than to call upon Emil Krafth, right? Wrong. Steve Bruce may favour the questionable Sweden international but the Magpies could easily put American Yedlin in on the right. Photo: Ian MacNicol
4. Centre-half - Federico Fernandez
He's back in training, and provided he's fit enough to start, he gets thrown back in for me. Isaac Hayden did an outstanding job in the centre last time out, but a return for United's best defender, if up to it, is a given. Photo: CLIVE ROSE
