Martin Dubrava reveals what Newcastle's final three games mean for his his future

The goalkeeper, on loan from Sparta Prague, tasted defeat at St James's Park for the first time on Saturday.

Dubravka was in the team beaten 1-0 by West Bromwich Albion, the Premier League's basement club.

Newcastle had beaten Arsenal, Huddersfield Town, Southampton and Manchester United on Dubravka's previous home appearances.

"We would liked to have shown the fans that our attitude is really high," said the 29-year-old. "We would have liked to have given them the victory. We didn't do that, and we're very disappointed."

Dubravka was not at fault for the winning goal, scored by Matt Phillips.

"Sometimes we have to say they have quality to score nice goals," said the Slovakia international. "This goal was brilliant from their side. Unfortunately, not good for us. We didn't do well in this moment."

The West Brom defeat followed a loss to Everton by the same scoreline.

Newcastle secured their top-flight status with a 2-1 win over Arsenal last month, so has the mentality of the players changed since then?

"We knew before the game that we were probably safe," said Dubravka. "I don't like to say that we don't play 100%, but if you are playing (to avoid) relegation, you put something more into the games. This is what we missed."

Dubravka, especially, is determined to impress in the club's remaining three games given that he wants to stay at St James's Park.

"We have to keep going in every game," Dubravka told NUFC TV. "We don't have to think about it that we have three more games.We have the next game, and we have to be ready for that and train well.

"Everybody in the city says we're safe, but I'm not playing like that, because I came for half a season and I have to show myself and also my team-mates would like to show themselves.

"They're great players, and they want to give everything for the club. We have to put everything into the games."
