Matt Ritchie's season is over at Newcastle United.
The winger has been handed a two-match ban by the Football Association after admitting a misconduct charge.
Ritchie's suspension relates to an incident in the tunnel after Newcastle's 1-1 draw against Leeds United at St James's Park earlier this month.
The visitors scored their equaliser deep in injury time after a pitch invader had halted play.
A club statement read: "Matt Ritchie will serve a two-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA misconduct charge.
"It was alleged the Newcastle United player used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official in or around the tunnel area following the conclusion of the game against Leeds United on 14th April 2017.
"Following the Independent Regulatory Commission hearing he was also fined £5,000."
Ritchie scored a penalty in Monday night's promotion-securing 4-1 win over Preston North End at St James's Park.
