Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid is set to seal his move to Greek side Panathinaikos today.
The Algerian has flown to Athens where he will undergo a medical ahead of a propsed move.
The Gazette revealed last week that the Greek side were in for the player, and that Newcastle had slapped a fee on his head.
The 23-year-old travelled to Germany for talks with Fortuna earlier this month, but the second division club did not reach an agreement with Newcastle and Abeid returned to Tyneside.
However, he will now return to Panathinaikos where he spent a successful loan spell in 2013/14.
Abeid was told he could find a new club by Newcastle this summer. He will be followed out of the St James’s Park exit door by Haris Vuckic, among others, as United look to get rid of their fringe players.
