ALAN Pardew insists Newcastle United and Everton ‘deserve more points’ ahead of their clash at St James’s Park today.

The Magpies host Roberto Martinez’s side hoping to end a run of four consecutive defeats.

Everton, meanwhile, have suffered an indifferent start to the season and sit 12th in the Premier League table, two places behind Newcastle.

Their 21 points from 18 games is two less than Pardew’s men and they are also in a poor run of form, having won just once in their last eight games in all competitions.

Pardew said: “We’ve had similar seasons really.

“We both probably feel as if we deserve more points than we’ve got but we are where we are.

“We’ve had terrible, terrible injuries which they haven’t suffered.

“I’m hoping 2015 is going to bring us a much better year than this year purely because we’re hopefully going to have more personnel available than I’ve had.

“It’s been a terrible year for injuries. It’s a fact.”
