Newcastle defender on road to recovery after undergoing surgery

INJURED ... Steven Taylor.
INJURED ... Steven Taylor.

NEWCASTLE United defender Steven Taylor underwent an operation on his ruptured Achilles tendon in London yesterday.

The 28-year-old will miss the rest of the season with the injury, but was happy to hear the surgery was a success.

Taylor – who suffered the injury against Burnley on New Year’s Day – posted on Sportlobster: “Had successful surgery on my Achilles in London (yesterday). All done now and on the road to recovery! #NUFC”

In Taylor’s absence, Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson are Newcastle’s only available senior centre-backs, although Paul Dummett is also adept at playing in the position.
