Curtis Good is ready to finally resume his Newcastle United career – after a 16-month injury nightmare.

The defender had surgery on his hip earlier this year after breaking down on his comeback.

Good suffered an hip injury on his Australia debut in March last year.

The injury saw Good miss out on last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Good, signed from Melbourne Heart three years ago, broke down in February playing for the club’s Under-21s.

That prompted Newcastle to send him to the USA for surgery.

Good, having undergone a lengthy rehabilitation, is now ready to start playing again.

The versatile player – who can play at centre-half and at left-back – has made just one competitive senior appearance for United.

Good is likely to be loaned out this season by United for first-team experience.
