Newcastle United are closing in on a SECOND transfer deal, according to a report.

The club yesterday signed Christian Atsu from Chelsea on a four-year deal.

And The Daily Telegraph today report that Newcastle have been given permission, along with Brighton and Hove Albion, to talk to Tammy Abraham, another of the club's players.

Brighton, promoted with Newcastle, are said to be "leading the way" in the race to sign the England Under-21 international, who scored 26 goals for loan club Bristol City this season.

Chelsea reportedly plan to secure the 19-year-old on a new long-term deal before loaning him out.

Asked about his future earlier this month, Abraham said: "I've heard a few bits, this and that, but I'm not too sure what I'm doing yet and I haven't spoken to Chelsea about next season.

“I'm focused here (at Ashton Gate) before I end up shooting off back to Chelsea.”
