Newcastle United have been given fresh hope that Loic Remy could join them on loan – despite the striker having picked up an injury.

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has not ruled out Remy leaving the club before the transfer deadline.

The French forward is wanted by a number of Premier League sides including Newcastle United, who are keen on bringing the 29-year-old back to Tyneside after his successful loan spell a couple of seasons ago.

Hiddink is bringing in Alexandre Pato on loan, opening up the possibility for Remy to leave, although the Dutchman was coy over the striker’s future.

Hiddink said: “He’s injured at the moment. He’s got a slight injury on his calf.

“We’ll see what happens in the upcoming days.”
