Man of the moment Rob Elliot has been named in the Republic of Ireland’s reduced squad for their upcoming Euro 2016 play-off with Bosnia – providing he gets the OK from the Newcastle medical staff.
Elliot, who was man of the match against Bournemouth on Saturday, was initially selected in Ireland’s 39-man provisional squad.
Boss Martin O’Neill has now reduced that to 30 names, with Elliot included.
However, he is part of a group of players who will be assessed by their clubs before reporting, with Elliot still struggling with a thigh injury.
The Newcastle goalkeeper was a major fitness doubt for the Bournemouth game, and will see a specialist this week who will decide whether he can join up with the Irish squad.
