Dwight Gayle is set to stay at Newcastle United.

Fulham tabled a £15million offer for the striker, who was the club's leading scorer in the Championship last season.

Newcastle rated Gayle in the £20million-bracket.

However, any sale was dependent on getting a replacement in before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline, and the club has been frustrated in moves for Liverpool's Divock Origi and Arsenal's Lucas Perez.

Origi has joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan, while Perez is set to return to Deportivo La Coruna, his former club.

And United are now set to keep Gayle, who wasn't involved in last weekend's win over West Ham United.
