SIEM de Jong and Jonas Gutierrez could return for Newcastle United against Swansea City this weekend, head coach John Carver has confirmed.
De Jong has not played for United since August, having first suffered from a thigh injury and then a collapsed lung.
He has been slowly re-introduced at Under-21 level over recent weeks, though, and had a 72-minute run-out against Aston Villa on Monday.
Carver said: “Siem de Jong will be in the squad and be involved. Some of his play in the Under-21s at Aston Villa was excellent.”
Gutierrez, meanwhile, was left out of last week’s game with Tottenham after a reported training ground bust-up with Carver.
However, the head coach has confirmed he will return on Saturday against the Swans.
