Teenager Mauro Severino took to Twitter after scoring a hat-trick for Newcastle United's Under-18s in a practice match.
The 16-year-old is reportedly on a second trial at the club during the Finnish off-season.
Severino – who plays in Finland's third tier with TPV – helped Newcastle beat Blackpool 4-3 in a behind-closed-doors match at the club's Benton training base.
After the game, the Finland Under-16 international tweeted: "Big win w/lads 4-3 against Blackpool U18 proud to score 3 goals today."
Severino had previous a trial at United earlier this year.
Newcastle have made no comment.
UPDATE: Niklas Jokelainen, a 15-year-old Finnish striker attached to AC Oulu, also played for United against Blackpool, according to nufc.com.
Jokelainen has represented Finland at Under-17 level.
