Steve McClaren has DROPPED Ayoze Perez for this afternoon's game against Liverpool.

The Newcastle United forward is among the substitutes at St James's Park this afternoon.

Fabricio Coloccini and Moussa Sissoko, however, have kept their places.

Perez has scored three goals so far this season and is one of the few players to have emerged from the first 14 games with any credit.

Head coach McClaren has instead fielded Siem de Jong up front.

Newcastle are 19th in the Premier League and three points adrift of safety.
