Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has been passed fit to face Cardiff City.

The striker missed last weekend's 2-1 win over Preston North End with a hamstring injury.

But Gayle will be available for tomorrow's Championship home game.

Asked if Gayle will be fit, United manager Rafa Benitez said: "Yes."

Benitez added: "I think we're quite well.

"Rolando Aarons is getting close, and Daryl Murphy is much, much better.

"Robbie Elliot is having almost normal training sessions."

Benitez also said he will consider playing Gayle alongside Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Asked if they could play together, he said: "I think so, but I can't say when.

"I agree with fans that both are good players and both score goals."
