FROZEN OUT ... Newcastle's Hatem Ben Arfa.

HATEM Ben Arfa got his season up and running today – with a run-out against Queen of the South.

Ben Arfa turned out for Newcastle United’s Under-21s in a 4-4 draw at the club’s Benton training ground.

The forward found the net in the behind-closed-doors game.

Callum Roberts, 17, scored twice, and midfielder Gael Bigirimana also netted for Newcastle.

Ben Arfa has been training with United’s development squad since returning for pre-season.

The 27-year-old is available for transfer this summer.

Gabriel Obertan was also involved.

Like Ben Arfa, Obertan was also left out of Alan Pardew’s squad for the club’s tour of New Zealand.

After the match, Roberts, from North Shields, tweeted: “Drew 4-4 today and happy to score 2.”
