Long-serving club doctor Paul Catterson is leaving Newcastle United.

Well-respected Catterson is a familiar face in the dugout at St James’s Park.

Catterson was appointed as club doctor almost seven years ago.

However, the Gazette understands he is leaving Newcastle, with the club having started to look for a replacement.

Catterson – who studied medicine at Newcastle University and also works as a consultant in emergency medicine – has been involved in sport for the past 15 years.
