Matt Ritchie has spoken about the prospect of a two-game ban.

The Newcastle United winger, on nine bookings for the season, is a yellow card away from an automatic suspension.

And the cut-off point for bookings is not until April 9.

"I’ve had to bite my tongue a little bit of late," said Ritchie, speaking ahead of tomorrow's game against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium.

"I’m aware of the yellow card situation, and I’m trying to curb that a little bit."

Newcastle lead the Championship by two points following Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ritchie said: "If we can beat Huddersfield, which we’ll be setting out to do, it will be a six-pointer that will give us a bit of breathing space at the top.

"But that is easier said than done – we have to make sure we turn up and do what we need to do."
