MIKE Williamson has been dropped for this evening’s game against former club Southampton.

The Newcastle United defender is among the substitutes for the televised Premier League match at St James’s Park (5.30pm kick-off).

Massadio Haidara comes into the team at left-back, with Paul Dummett switching to central defence.

Williamson – who had a spell at Southampton early in his career – was in the United team beaten 4-0 at the St Mary’s Stadium in September.

Fit-again midfielder Mehdi Abeid is on the bench for 10th-placed Newcastle.

Former United goalkeeper Fraser Forster starts for third-placed Southampton.
