Wolverhampton Wanderers want to extend Mike Williamson's loan at Molineux.
The Necastle United defender joined the Championship club on an initial month-long loan late last month.
And Wolves manager Kenny Jacket has been impressed with the 32-year-old, who is out of contract next summer and could leave Newcastle in Janauary.
“I’ve been very pleased with him, and we’ll be keen to extend it," Jackett told the Express and Star.
"He’s made a good start – he’s really pulled the back four together. We’ve needed that.
“We haven’t spoken to Newcastle yet, but we’ll certainly be talking to them and the player along those lines.
“We’ll see in terms of what Newcastle want. We’d like some understanding.
“They’ll obviously be very pleased he’s out and playing. It’s hard to know or speak on their behalf. That (an extra month) wasn’t discussed at the start.”
