Tim Krul says he's "almost back" to fitness ahead of his return to Newcastle United.

The goalkeeper, set to return to Tyneside next week for the start of pre-season training, missed most of the 2015-16 campaign after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament last October.

But Krul is nearing the end of his rehabilitation, and he today posted a video of himself training abroad on Twitter.

The 28-year-old tweeted: "Working hard while getting a tan ain't that bad . #AlmostBack."

Krul is wanted by former United manager Alan Pardew, now in charge of Crystal Palace.

And Everton have also been linked with a move for the Holland international after the departure of Tim Howard.

Krul is out of contract next year and could be offered a new deal by Newcastle.
