Newcastle United are set to miss out on one of their striker targets.
The club had a bid, reportedly around £20million, for Alassane Plea rejected by Nice last week.
And it had been claimed that Newcastle were considering an improved offer for Plea.
However, L'Equipe report that the 25-year-old is set to join Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The Bundesliga club are said to have tabled an offer of £22million for Plea.
The report states that the move could be completed in the next 48 hours.
West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon, available for £16.5million, is another target for Newcastle.
