A quartet of Newcastle United players have committed their futures to the club.
Liam Smith, Jamie Sterry, Macaulay Gillesphey and Tom Heardman have signed the professional deals they were offered in March.
Midfielder Smith overcame a series of injuries to earn the contract.
The 19-year-old, from South Shields, said: “I’ve been here for 13 years now ,and to finally sign my first professional contract is everything I have worked for. It’s a special moment.”
Defender Sterry made the first-team bench twice last season.
The 19-year-old said: “I’m absolutely buzzing.
“I was on the bench last season and the atmosphere was amazing. I hope to experience that many more times.
“I’m looking forward to pre-season training now and seeing how that goes. I can’t wait.”
Six players – goalkeeper Brendan Pearson and defenders Jamie Cobain, Kyle Cameron, Adam Laidler, Callum Williams and Liam Gibson – have signed third year scholarships with the club.
