Newcastle United supporters have responded to Rafa Benitez's claims that the club will likely have to battle relegation once again.

Supporters have taken his comments as an indication that his future on Tyneside remains unclear, especially given that just a year remains on the Spaniard's contract.

And off the back of his revealing claims, a number of Newcastle supporters have taken to Twitter to air their views.

One account in particular is gathering momentum - with a group called 'If Rafa Goes, We Go' gaining a number of supporters over the last few hours.

The group have now released a statement, airing their views on the current situation at the club and addressing the scepticism surrounding their approach.

Posted on the group's Twitter account, the statement read: "A lot of people have asked who we are. We are fans of Newcastle United Football Club.

REACTION: Newcastle fans react to Rafa Benitez's revealing interview
"We are brothers and sisters. We are mams and dads. Are grandparents and grandchildren. We are friends. We are best mates.

"We've had enough of Ashley and the way he runs our club. We respect and value Rafa Benitez.

"We think (we fear) this could be his last season as our manager. We will do everything possible to keep him here. Failing that, if he goes we go.

"Enough is enough. We are United."
