As Newcastle head into the final run of matches after the international break, they sit fifth in the Premier League table and just two points off a Champions League place with two games in hand. Eddie Howe’s side have also reached the final of the Carabao Cup but were beaten by Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.
The Magpies exited the FA Cup early as they were beaten by League One side Sheffield Wednesday in the third round.
Here’s every member of Newcastle’s squad this season ranked based on their performances and impact so far...

5. Jonjo Shelvey - 3 (sold to Nottingham Forest)
Shelvey barely got a sniff during the first half of the season due to injury and couldn’t get back into the due to the form of Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock. While Newcastle could have done with keeping him around for the remainder of the season, Shelvey opted to join Nottingham Forest instead but struggled to make a positive impact. | AFP via Getty Images

6. Paul Dummett - 3
Obviously remains an important figure behind the scenes but has offered almost nothing on the pitch this season with just one Carabao Cup appearance. Could still be awarded a new deal. | AFP via Getty Images

7. Emil Krafth - 3.5
It was a season to forget for Emil Krafth as he suffered a serious ACL injury in only his second appearance of the season last August. The injury ruled him out for the rest of the season. Should be back in contention for the start of the new season. Photo: Stu Forster

8. Javier Manquillo - 4
Has been a regular in the matchday squads but hardly ever got on the pitch with just six appearances in all competitions. Photo: Michael Regan
