Newcastle United have hit the headlines today as their transfer activity hots up.
Rafa Benitez is reported to want FIVE new signings before the window closes at the end of the month, and the Magpies have been linked with a host of players today.
Here's our round-up of a busy morning of news on Tyneside.
Rafa Benitez has been handed a boost after finding out that injured duo Paul Dummet and Florian Lejeune will be out for 'weeks not months'. The pair both limped off during the first half of the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, but the injuries are now thought to not be as bad as first feared. A statement from the club said: "Assessments by the club's medical staff are continuing in order to establish the full extent of their injuries but both players are expected to be out for weeks, rather than months."
Following the injury to Dummett, Newcastle have been linked with Bristol City left back Joe Bryan. The 23-year-old was linked with Leeds United earlier in the summer having become a reliable performer in Lee Johnson's side since making his debut in 2012. He came through the academy at Ashton Gate and has gone on to make just shy of 200 appearances for the Robins, with most of these coming in the Championship.

United are on the verge of adding a striker to their squad as a move for Stoke City's Joselu nears completion. The Spaniard completed a medical on Tyneside yesterday and looks set to seal a £5million move to St. James' Park. The move looks set to be finalised ahead of the trip to Huddersfield Town on Sunday,

Another goalkeeper linked with St. James' Park is Birmingham City's Tomasz Kuszczak. the ex-Manchester United man is reported to be interesting Newcastle, Brighton and Nottingham Forest having dropped down the pecking order at St. Andrew's since the arrival of David Stockdale.
