Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe to make three harsh changes v Brentford – predicted line-up
Newcastle are hoping to welcome Allan Saint-Maximin back from a hamstring injury this weekend. The Frenchman has missed the last four league games but returned to training last Friday.
Alexander Isak (thigh) remains out though Jonjo Shelvey (hamstring) is nearing a return.
Joelinton is also back in contention to start having trained through the week.
The Magpies will be hoping to build on last weekend’s 4-1 win at Fulham and pick up their first win at St James’s Park since the opening day of the season.
Here is our predicted line-up for Howe’s side...
Joelinton is also back in contention to start having trained through the week.
5. LB: Matt Targett
Could come back into the starting line-up after being dropped at Fulham due to illness.

6. CM: Bruno Guimaraes
A guaranteed starter when fit. The quality he brings to the midfield is apparent whenever he’s on the pitch.
7. CM: Joe Willock
Eddie Howe has a tough decision to make in midfield with Joelinton now back in contention. Willock’s two assists at Fulham should work in his favour.
8. CM: Joelinton
Joelinton’s return to the starting line-up would be harsh on Sean Longstaff following his goalscoring display at Fulham last weekend. But the Brazilian is a key player in Eddie Howe’s side and had played every minute in the Premier League this season prior to the Fulham match.
