Rafa Benitez will face the media this afternoon ahead of Birmingham City's visit to St James's Park.

Newcastle United will look to put three successive defeats behind them when they take on Gary Rowett's fifth-placed side in the Championship fixture.

Benitez will be asked about last Friday night's controversial 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle had Jonjo Shelvey and Paul Dummett sent off at the City Ground for separate incidents involving Henri Lansbury, who has been named the Championship's player of the month for last month.

Benitez was critical of "clever" Lansbury after the game.

The cards were rescinded by the Football Association after a successful appeal by the Championship leaders, who are a point ahead of second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion.

Karl Darlow saved two penalties at the City Ground.

And the goalkeeper has reflected on the game and also talked about his ambitions for the rest of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has reacted to speculation linking Daryl Murphy with a loan move to Portman Road.
