Newcastle United news: Big-money Lacazette 'bid', Remy move update

Newcastle United are stepping up their search for striking reinforcements in this month's transfer window.

Reports in France claim that the club has bid for Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette, a long-standing target for the club, is rated in the £19million-bracket by the French club.

Another option for relegation-threatened Newcastle is Chelsea's Loic Remy, who is available for loan.

Remy spent the 2013-14 season on loan at United, and the forward is understood to be interested in a return to St James's Park.

The 29-year-old France international, also interesting a number of other clubs, is needs to be playing week in, week out ahead of Euro 2016 in his home country.

United head coach Steve McClaren admitted that Austin was on the club's "radar" in September.
