Former Newcastle United players Andy Carroll and Loic Remy have today been linked with moves back to St James's Park.

West Ham United are reportedly willing to offload Carroll in this month's transfer window.

And Newcastle and Sunderland are said to be keen to sign the 26-year-old.

Chelsea are also said to be ready to loan out Loic Remy in the window, and United are said to be interested in signing him.

Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren is preparing his relegation-threatened team for Saturday's third round FA Cup tie against Watford.

The club's has never got beyond the competition's fourth round since Mike Ashley bought the club.

And McClaren has given an indication of the strength of the team he will field at Vicarage Road.

Meanwhile, midfielder Gael Bigirimana has had his loan at former club Coventry City extended until January 24.
