Newcastle United are set to sign Atletico Madrid defender Jesus Gamez.

Gamez will become the club's FOURTH summer signing.

The 31-year-old right-back was previously at Malaga.

Meanwhile, Benitez has spoken about the United futures of Moussa Sissoko and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Sissoko and Wijnaldum have been looking towards the exit door at St James's Park since relegation.

But the club's manager has a message for the pair ahead of the club's Championship campaign.

Benitez's intervention comes as Tottenham Hotspur weigh up a move for Wijnaldum, signed from PSV Eindhoven for £14.5million a year ago.

Newcastle yesterday revealed that captain Fabricio Coloccini had left the club.

Coloccini wrote an emotional open letter to supporters explaining the reasons behind his decision to return to his native Argentina.

And writer Miles Starforth has reflected on Coloccini's eight-year career at St James's Park, including last summer's events, here.
