Could Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini be axed by Steve McClaren?

Central defender Coloccini and midfielder Moussa Sissoko - two of the club's highest-profile players - have done little to warrant their continued selection.

And under-pressure McClaren must decide whether to give Coloccini, his captain, and Sissoko another chance against Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United have recalled defender Mike Williamson early from his loan spell at Championships side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The centre-back was due to be at Wolves until January 16 but he has been recalled early after Jamaal Lascelles suffered a minor hamstring injury during Saturday’s defeat at Crystal Palace.

Williamson made five appearances for the Midlands side after heading to Molineux in October.
