Newcastle United’s squad is already being tested by a lengthing injury list, but it seems the club is willing to loan out one experienced player.
Mike Williamson is on the verge of a loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The defender is wanted on loan by the Championship club.
Williamson has made just two Capital One Cup appearances for United so far this season.
Meanwhile, the club will discover the extent of the injury suffered by Jack Colback in the Wear-Tyne derby late next week.
The midfielder will have a second scan on his knee, and there are fears he could be sidelined for months, not weeks.
Colback suffered the problem under a challenge from former Sunderland team-mate Lee Cattermole in Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at the Stadium of Light.
The 26-year-old was already suspended for Saturday’s home game against Stoke City, having been booked for the fifth time this season before succumbing to injury.
Finally, Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has been talking about the duty of care he has towards Adam Armstrong, on a half-season loan from Newcastle.
