Newcastle United's win over Liverpool eased the pressure on head coach Steve McClaren.
A strike from Georginio Wijnaldum and an own goal from Martin Skrtel saw McClaren's side a 2-0 victory at St James's Park yesterday.
The odds on McClaren becoming the Premier League's next managerial casualty had been slashed last week in the wake of Newcastle's 5-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Ayoze Perez was left out of the starting XI – Siem de Jong started in his place – in one change.
After the match Wijnaldum was just happy to "give something back" to the club's fans.
Meanwhile, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp was magnanimous in defeat. Read his verdict here.
