Steve McClaren will face the media today ahead of Sunday’s Wear-Tyne derby.

McClaren’s side all but picks itself after last weekend’s 6-2 Premier League win over Norwich City, though he must choose between Cheick Tiote and Vurnon Anita in midfield.

Third-choice goalkeeper Rob Elliot will be between the posts with Tim Krul and Karl Darlow sidelined with injuries.

Elliot, however, feared his days at St James’s Park were numbered a few months ago as he battled back from a thigh problem.

We also look at the eight areas where the derby will be won and lost.

Of course, the Gazette will be covering McClaren’s pre-match Press conference this afternoon.

Meanwhile, new Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has been finalising his backroom team at the Stadium of Light.

Allardyce has also confirmed that former Newcastle midfielder Paul Bracewell will be his No 2 on Wearside.
