The summer transfer market is hotting up with Newcastle United closing in on four new signings.

Rafa Benitez has revealed that Newcastle United are close to a transfer breakthrough.

Benitez says the relegated club is working on "three or four" signings.

"We are working very hard. It's not easy, because the market is so high. But we are fine. We have three or four things ready.

"When I say ready, it's really, really nearly there, but we are waiting for someone who is working at another club and he needs to come back and sign the documents."

That’s the verdict of Freddie Woodman, who plays alongside the forward for Newcastle United and England Under-19s.

He said: "He’s strong, he’s aggressive. He’ll have a lot of confidence coming off 20 goals in League One.

"Arma’s a top talent and he’ll score goals in any team.

"All the young lads must have a good chance next season. Hopefully, they’ll get a good chance."
