The January transfer window is just around the corner and Newcastle United have been linked with two players today.
Denmark centre-back Jannik Vestergaard is the latest defender to be linked with a move to the North East. The Werder Bremen defender has also been linked with a move to Everton.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are also rumoured to be considering bringing former striker Obafemi Martins back to St James's Park on loan.
The forward, rumoured to be of interest to Sunderland too, is currently out in the USA playing for Seattle Sounders and has bagged 40 goals in the last three seasons.
The US league is currently on its 'off-season' and Martins could return to the Premier League on loan.
In other news, Toon striker Papiss Cisse says Newcastle United’s players understand the anger at the team’s misfiring campaign – as they are as “frustrated” as the club’s fans.
Steve McClaren’s side are just a point above the relegation zone after last weekend’s abject 3-0 home defeat to Leicester City.
