French wingers are making the Newcastle United headlines today on another busy day.
The Magpies’ under-21 side are in action this afternoon against Swansea and there’s a comeback for forgotten man Sylvain Marveaux.
The French winger, who spent last season on loan at Guingamp, has been injured but returns to action at Whitley Park.
Another French winger, Hatem Ben Arfa, has again been in great form for his new club Nice.
The mercurial forward scored another stunner as his side beat Saint-Etienne 4-1.
Ben Arfa dribbled past several defenders before shooting low across goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier from a tight angle.
Meanwhile, a row has broken out between David Ginola and Alan Shearer over yet another French winger – Florian Thauvin.
Ginola accused Shearer of showing a “lack of respect” to the French league following the former England captain’s comments that Thauvin “might get away with” not tracking back across The Channel, but that in the Premier League you have to put the work in.
The ex-United winger retorted: “It is an arrogant comment (from Shearer).
“With everything Ligue 1 has brought to the Premier League in terms of players, he should show some respect.”
In response, Shearer tweeted stating it was “good to know (Ginola) feels so strongly about a league he didn’t want to play in”.
